Chef Cover Letter

When you spend most of your time in the kitchen, writing a chef cover letter is the last thing on your mind. For sure, top chef Gordon Ramsay didn’t spend any of his time typing what he can do best, right? But to give a recruitment officer a taste of what you can do, you don’t have to feed them anything from the kitchen at all. Instead all you need to do is write an effective chef cover letter that shows your work history and love for cuisine.

Truth is, hundreds and even thousands of resumes are sent to hospitality employers whenever they are in a hiring cycle. Any resume could easily be overlooked and be lost in a sea of documents, in such a scenario, submitting a cover letter is a great way for you to stand out. So don’t let your resume go unnoticed and go the extra mile by writing a cover letter – it may make the difference between you finally getting called for a job interview or your resume getting ignored. Plus, a well-written cover letter shows the F&B employer that you are willing to put the extra effort since you put the work in making a decent cover letter.

Restaurants and hotels are always in need of a good and reliable kitchen chef, and not just starred ones (Michelin be damned). Some of the best chefs are also leaders; they run their kitchens smoothly and they make sure patrons get their delicious food still warm and ready for tasting. You can be that chef everyone wants. So make yourself shine with this chef cover letter:

Engineering Cover Letter

When writing your engineering cover letter do take it as an opportunity to make your best pitch and present yourself as the desired person for the job. Engineering is a very broad field, though it can be daunting to fit everything on a one-page cover letter, you can narrow the scope of your specialty for the recruiter by having a concise summary of your skill sets. Doing this will be to your advantage as you can choose to highlight your traditional engineering competencies and your proficiency in using modern engineering tools.

Mistakes, no matter how big or small, can prove to be costly in the engineering field and in fact, some mistakes can be quite catastrophic as well. That’s why engineering is primarily an industry that runs on precision, no matter how human we may all be, the field of engineering relies on talented and innovative individuals with a knack for having less or next to zero errors. Miscalculations will defintely put lives at risk, so having quick problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail are the signs of adeptness a recruiter will surely look for.

So here’s a nice draft of an engineering cover letter. It’s worth taking a look at- just to get a better idea on what qualifications an engineering firm may search for in a candidate.

Artist Cover Letter

Writing cover letters can be tiring especially if you are an artist applying to several jobs, whether full time, or on exclusive commission or even freelance, but here’s a tip for artists and illustrators alike – consider creating a good artist cover letter as part of the job interview process.

Employers look toward working with dependable individuals, and often being an artist, you are usually perceived as flakey or just disorganized, but of course, that’s a stereotype and not necessarily true. As an artist who has something to prove, this is your chance to communicate to a potential employer that though you are amazingly creative and reliable, you can be entrusted to meet deadlines when needed. So with writing your cover letter, bank on your strengths and your build rapport with the client. Don’t be afraid to get creative with your job descriptions and work history, and really write is as if you are talking to them.

Resumes are essential in job-hunting, but all its details would easily bog down a recruiter and limit their reading window down to a few minutes, that’s why cover letters are very effective, they can give a recruiter a quick assessment whether you are worth interviewing and meeting in real life.

As an artist, don’t be afraid to show your passion for your craft, let them know how great you are through your cover letter. Go and get that interview!

Advertising Cover Letter

If you’re a prolific advertising copywriter, writing an advertising cover letter would be a cinch for you, but as for other advertising creative professionals such as an art director, advertising illustrator, agency liaison and media planner, creating an advertising cover letter to showcase one’s creative skills in just a few words can be quite a challenge.

First, it helps to personalize the advertising cover letter according to your work history; it should flow like a series of accomplishments, not just a bland list of what projects you’ve finished. Second, the tone of the cover letter should be engaging that it highlights your skills and hard work, like what exactly were you able to do for your previous agency? Were you able to garner more sales? Push for higher advertising engagement? Brand recall?

With these things in mind, try to outline the goals achieved accordingly with your past brand campaigns, choose all your winners in your creative portfolio and make sure you also articulate your enthusiasm for the ad job. As an advertising expert, you know brevity is key, so be short and yet, effectively persuasive. Also at the end of the letter, don’t hesitate to take a proactive approach, always end the advertising cover letter with a request for an interview.

Social Work Cover Letter

A career in social work is not for the faint of heart, and that should be the heart of the matter in your cover letter when you apply as a social worker. It takes a certain kind of professional to deal with the downtrodden and vulnerable in our society while keeping public policy and advocacy regulations in mind.

As a social worker, your highest qualification is to be a human being first; and a practical advocate and decision-maker second. Without a doubt, you will be responsible for people’s lives, their families and destinies as they rely on your skills to tirelessly advocate for them. So write a social work cover letter that showcases your instincts, empathy skills and sharp decision-making skills. Also demonstrate instances in your cover letter that you are a hard-liner, that you have no qualms pounding the streets for your casework, appearing in court or coordinating with downtown folks and upscale donor foundations. In your social work cover letter, prove that you can appeal to a broad spectrum of people while maintaining the necessary focus and emotional stability on your end.

If you can, include references in your cover letter if possible. Work and field connections with other professional and organizations are essential when it comes to landing a job in the developmental and public advocacy sector. Because most non-profits, advocate groups, government-funded agencies often work in cycles or campaigns. People move around a lot post-funding and their professional strength is often measured with the last project or casework they have successfully managed to completion.

Here’s a sample social work cover letter that can help you make small changes to your own customized version.

Cover Letter For Internship

Internships are crucial in starting in a specialized field. By sending out feelers such as a cover letter for internship, you’ll spend less time waiting for an interview callback and feeling frustrated. Getting a reply takes time, as recruiters will sort through the hundreds of internship cover letters to separate the wheat from the chaff. After all, they are not seeking mindless assistants; they are looking for talented minds with great potential.

Understandably, employers know you have zero work experience, and the likelihood you ever held a job before the internship is not in their set of expectations. However, it is up to you to highlight what is relevant, whether it’s a neighborhood job in retail or academic extracurriculars, any form of work experience is solid proof at your attempt at taking on greater responsibilities. It shows that you can be responsible and committed to getting things done. So put those small experiences in your cover letter.

Banking Cover Letter

Need a cover letter for when you pursue a new banking position? We’ve got you covered.

Banking is one of those industries that embody the traditional corporate structure. The various corporate levels in a bank makes this industry an ideal one for anyone who has high career ambitions and are daring enough to take on greater responsibilities as they climb the career ladder.

While moving up in your career at the same bank is doable, looking at opportunities at other banks can be a good strategy to boost your income if not having a fancier title.

There are some who argue that a cover letter may not be as valuable to getting your foot in the door at the bank of your choice as much as what school you graduated from or how big your network is and who you know but we will argue that with the right cover letter template, creating one to go with your application shouldn’t take too long and submitting one along with your resume makes you look much more professional.

Banking Cover Letter Tips

Be Brief – Your cover letter shouldn’t be more than one page.

Bring Out the Big Guns – By this we mean focus your letter on your most impressive accomplishments. If you went to a prestigious school then let them know. Have you met and networked with any of the officials at the bank? Mention that too!

Proofread Your Cover Letter – A typo or wrong grammar on a one-page letter will stand out so proofread your letter before you send it. Better yet, have a friend or colleague go over it as you may not be overlooking your own mistakes.

Below is a banking cover letter sample that you can modify with your details and experiences.

(Today’s Date)

Dear Sir or Madam,

My name is Robert S. Roscoe, currently a loan officer at the Westerville Branch of the Ohio Western Bank and a graduate of the University of Ohio with a degree in Accounting. I was fortunate to have met your loan officer, Ms. Janet Esguerra, at the recent Banking Summit in Akron who invited me to explore career opportunities at CenterPoint Bank. I am interested in pursuing the Senior Loan Officer position at your bank that is advertised on your website.

I have been working at Ohio Western Bank for the past four years starting out as a teller then moving into the position of loan officer after my first year. We have a lean team of just three loan officers in the bank so all three of us handles a variety of loan products from auto loans to home loans and I’m proud to say that our branch is in the top five amongst all 32 branches of Ohio Western Bank in terms of loan performance.

I understand that CenterPoint Bank is looking to expand its share in the home loan market and I’m confident that I can support the bank in this new direction quite well. My years of working in Ohio Western Bank has allowed me to make connections with some of the biggest realtors in the capital area which will be useful as CenterPoint Bank pushes more aggressively in this market.

It would be an honor to be invited for an interview so that I may learn about CenterPoint Bank’s plans for the future. It would also be my opportunity to discuss how I could support these plans. My resume is attached to this letter and you may learn more about my work experience from there. You may reach me any time on my phone or via email if you would like to have me over for an interview.

Kind regards,
