Nursing Cover Letter

Spread the love

Including a cover letter when you submit your application as a nurse might just give you the edge over other applicants. There are a number of nursing specialties and most job ads will specify which area of the hospital they have an opening for. When writing your nursing cover letter, make sure to reference your relevant experience in that specialty. If you don’t have the experience in that special nursing area but still want to get invited into the interview, highlight your qualifications and let them know that you are willing to learn more about that special area under the management of a more experienced nurse.

Use the following nursing cover letter example as an inspiration for your own cover letter and personalize it by highlighting your experience and qualification for the job.

Dear Hiring Manager,

I’m delighted to be applying for the position of OR Nurse at St. Lukes Hospital. I earned my nursing license in 2013 and have been working since then at Greenlanes General Hospital in different specialty areas including the ER, OR, and the ward. I’m excited at the possibility of me joining St. Lukes Hospital which has a prestigious reputation in our community.

For the past two years, I’ve been working as a staff nurse in the private ward of Greenlanes General Hospital which has 35 beds. My work at the ward helped me hone my nursing admin skills and it was also during this part of my career where I’ve made an effort to earn more credentials of which you can learn more from my attached C.V. My effort to deliver personalized care to my patients bore fruit and I was recognized for my outstanding patient care when I was given an award for it during last year’s annual year end party.

Before moving to the private wards of Greenlanes General Hospital, I spent two years working alongside the highly professional medical teams of the OR. I learned quite a lot from my time at the OR especially since we handled quite a variety of cases from simple operations to more complex ones like open heart surgeries of which it was an honor to be part of a team of professionals including world-renowned surgeons who did ground-breaking surgical work.

I joined the nursing team at Greenlanes General Hospital right after passing the licensure exam in 2013 as part of their nursing staff in the ER. It was here where I refined my skills in nursing not just in the technical aspects of the profession but also where I honed my soft skills in my interactions with patients and their families as well as my colleagues in the medical team.

Nursing has been an exciting career for me so far and it is my wish to bring my nursing skills to St. Lukes Hospital and continue my work in providing excellent patient care.

Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to discussing more about the opportunities at St. Lukes and I’m confident that my experience can be an asset to St. Lukes’ roster of medical professionals.

Sincerely,

Ann Castaneda
